If you are an aspiring writer, please spend time educating yourself about the business of publishing.  Knowledge is power and there are a lot of scams out there.  The more you know about how the business works, the better.

Ergonomics

Writers are at high risk for repetetive trauma.  The combination of sitting, poor posture, and intense keyboarding/mousing are an unhappy triad.  The popularity of laptops only exacerbates the problems, as laptops are a bad compromise between head and hand positions.
