Publishing Industry

If you are an aspiring writer, please spend time educating yourself about the business of publishing.  Knowledge is power and there are a lot of scams out there.  The more you know about how the business works, the better.

Agent Query:

Preditors and Editors:
information on writing scams and disreputable agents

Writer Beware:
"Warnings About Literary Fraud and Other Schemes, Scams, and Pitfalls That Target Writers"

Ergonomics

Writers are at high risk for repetetive trauma.  The combination of sitting, poor posture, and intense keyboarding/mousing are an unhappy triad.  The popularity of laptops only exacerbates the problems, as laptops are a bad compromise between head and hand positions.

Work Station design and organization:
Guidelines from OSHA
Basic tips from UCLA Ergonomics Dept
Ditto from Cornell University Ergonomics Dept

Free break reminder software (note: I haven't tried these, but they have received solid user reviews)
